Egg-cellent Visitors to Cedar Trust.

Egg-cellent Visitors..

Visits to our home from the children of the local Churchdown Junior school has long been a feature of events taking place at Parton House Care Home.

This week we have had Easter cards made for us and in return we organised an Easter egg hunt for the children.

We absolutely loved the cards and although trying to make the Egg Hunt as tricky as possible, all eggs were accounted for by some very eagle eye’d spotters…

However the mixing of the generations has more than a fun purpose and can be beneficial for both young and old alike. Research has shown that elderly people benefit from the mental stimulation that interacting with young children can bring. They also get involved in activities which not only stretch them mentally but also physically too.

For children there is significant evidence that their confidence and language development can improve from mixing with a much older age group.

At Cedar Trust we will continue to develop contacts with schools and groups of younger people as we firmly believe that there are mutual benefits to be had, and besides it is great to watch groups of elderly residents re-live some of their childhood memories in conjunction with passing on a little of their accumulated wisdom to a future generation.
